About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist to lead the development of a culturally competent Psychological Therapy Service for individuals at risk of mental states (ARMS) and those experiencing first episode psychosis (FEP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement culturally sensitive psychological interventions for ARMS and FEP populations.
  • Collaborate with clinical colleagues to ensure effective delivery of psychological therapies within the Early Intervention Team.
  • Provide specialist expertise in managing complex cases, service development, evaluation, and quality improvement.
  • Facilitate increased uptake of psychological interventions and improved outcomes for ethnically diverse populations.
  • Ensure the Early Intervention Service is responsive to the needs of the local community and delivers high standards of care.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with a Doctorate level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and lifespan developmental psychology. The ideal candidate will also have accreditation from the British Psychological Society (BPS) or equivalent.

Desirable criteria include a postgraduate doctorate in clinical psychology, accredited membership of a professional body, and additional training in therapeutic models and psychometric assessment tools.

Knowledge and Skills

The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of psychosis, including first episode psychosis and at-risk mental states, as well as doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology. They will also have evidence of continual professional development and be familiar with computing technology, including spreadsheets and databases.

We are looking for an individual who is proficient in implementing evidence-based psychological therapies for psychosis, such as CBTp and family interventions. They will also have highly developed skills in communication, including the ability to communicate complex information to service users, their families, and other professionals.
