Postdoctoral Research Associate Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will work directly with the Principal Investigator and contribute to the design and development of laboratory methods to retrieve ancient human and viral proteins from ancient human skeletal remains and archaeological materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop laboratory methods for ancient protein retrieval
  • Conduct in silico digestion predictions of common human viruses using multiple enzymes
  • Validate predictions in the lab using established and experimental palaeo proteomic techniques
  • Contribute to training new team members and general project management
  • Participate in public engagement activities

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Excellent research skills and experience in laboratory methods
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
