We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Scientist to join our team at the Medical Research Council. The successful candidate will have a strong background in scientific research and a PhD in a relevant subject.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the development of research projects and make significant inputs into determining the direction of the project.
- Plan and manage your own work and objectives on a 12-month basis and manage your experimental work within the project.
- Identify, develop, modify, and apply necessary techniques to achieve project goals.
- Introduce and apply new techniques across a wide range of disciplines and develop novel approaches and methods where required.
- Ensure research is carried out in accordance with good practice and in compliance with local policies and legal requirements.
- Contribute to the smooth running of the group, including the effective use of resources, training of others, and taking responsibility for use of communal facilities.
- Enhance your research and generic skills through a tailored development programme.
You will report to Dr Michel Goedert and interact and collaborate with other Postdoctoral Scientists, Research Support staff, and students within the group and across the LMB and with external groups as necessary.
Person Specification- A PhD in a relevant subject or due to complete PhD within 6 months.
- Experience of and ability to perform techniques relevant to the project.
- Essential experience of experimental models of amyloid formation and experience in culturing nerve cells.
- Desirable experience in cryo-EM.
- A track record of research achievements and contributions to published papers.
