Nursing Leadership Role at NHS National Services Scotland



NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) seeks a strategic nursing leader to join its Executive Management Team. As a member of this team, you will report directly to the NSS Chief Executive and be responsible for leading, developing, and implementing the strategic direction for NSS nursing, midwifery, and allied health professions services.



This executive leadership role requires close collaboration with leaders across NHSScotland, the Scottish Government, the academic sector, and other partner organisations. You will need to maintain NSS's clinical leadership in this field and engage with the nursing profession across NHSScotland.



The role involves providing strong and effective leadership, expert advice, and assurance on all nursing and midwifery matters and related governance issues for AHPs to the NSS Board, stakeholders, customers, and staff. You will balance governance activities with business performance across NSS and provide professional governance-related leadership to Public Health Scotland.



You will also be the strategic NSS liaison with the Chief Nursing Officer for NHSScotland, supporting the Scottish Government in achieving NHSScotland's healthcare goals through initiatives like the Nursing and Midwifery task force and Infection Prevention and Control Policy.



Requirements




  • Education to Master's level in a relevant subject or significant equivalent demonstrable experience with evidence of continuing professional development
  • Detailed and wide-ranging understanding of nursing best practice and policy
  • Senior management-level experience in a nursing role within the NHS, preferably across various settings
  • Ability to develop effective stakeholder relationships
  • Influencing, negotiation, and facilitation skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentational communication skills
  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex information at all levels within the NHS in Scotland
  • Current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration


Working Arrangements



NHS National Services Scotland operates a hybrid working model. The successful candidate will be required to work a Monday to Friday pattern over 37 hours per week. It is a condition of employment that the candidate must reside within the UK for the duration of their employment with NSS.
