Principal Sustainability & Carbon Consultant

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Sustainability and Carbon team leader who is a highly capable specialist with extensive experience in embedding sustainability into large scale infrastructure projects and corporate strategies, who can hit the ground running while providing team/line management.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leading on carbon, sustainability, and net zero for the existing portfolio of major infrastructure projects and strategic clients.
  2. Developing innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management plans.
  3. Project managing and coordinating sustainability inputs on major infrastructure projects.
  4. Representing the company at external networks and building personal, team, and company reputation.
  5. Leading bid proposals, authoring submissions, and ensuring win themes are retained throughout.
  6. Leading the Manchester/Northern team of sustainability and carbon specialists, providing line management duties and supporting team development.
Requirements:
  1. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an environmental/engineering related discipline and will be chartered with a recognised relevant professional body.
  2. Prior experience and up to date knowledge in some of the following is required: carbon accounting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy, supply chain engagement.
  3. Strong report writing, communication and presentation skills which can be tailored to a range of audiences, seniorities, and technical competencies.
  4. Understanding of UK sustainability and carbon guidance and standards used within infrastructure and in corporate reporting, across both the public and private sector.
