This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned Sustainability and Carbon professional who is a highly capable specialist with extensive experience in embedding sustainability into large-scale infrastructure projects and corporate strategies.


Our client is a leading design, engineering, and project management consultancy with a global presence, offering the opportunity to shape some of the world's most exciting projects for future generations.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead on carbon, sustainability, and net zero initiatives for the existing portfolio of major infrastructure projects and strategic clients.
  2. Develop innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management plans.
  3. Project manage and coordinate sustainability inputs on major infrastructure projects.
  4. Represent the company at external networks and build the company's reputation.
  5. Lead bid proposals, authoring submissions and ensuring win themes are retained.
  6. Lead the Manchester/Northern team of sustainability and carbon specialists, providing line management duties and supporting team development.

Requirements for the Senior Sustainability and Carbon Expert:

  1. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an environmental/engineering related discipline and will be chartered with a recognised relevant professional body.
  2. Prior experience and up-to-date knowledge in some of the following is required: carbon accounting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy, supply chain engagement.
  3. Strong report writing, communication, and presentation skills are essential.
  4. Understanding of UK sustainability and carbon guidance and standards used within infrastructure and in corporate reporting, across both the public and private sector.
