About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable Sustainability and Carbon specialist to lead our Manchester office's Sustainability and Carbon Team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in embedding sustainability into large-scale infrastructure projects and corporate strategies, with a strong track record of delivering innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on carbon, sustainability, and net zero for our existing portfolio of major infrastructure projects and strategic clients.
  • Develop and implement innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management plans.
  • Project manage and coordinate sustainability inputs on major infrastructure projects.
  • Represent the company at external networks and build personal, team, and company reputation.
  • Lead and support bid proposals, ensuring win themes are retained throughout.
  • Lead the Manchester/Northern team of sustainability and carbon specialists, providing line management duties and supporting team development.

Requirements

  • Education to degree level in an environmental or engineering-related discipline, with chartered status with a recognized professional body.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of carbon accounting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, sustainability reporting, and supply chain engagement.
  • Strong report writing, communication, and presentation skills, with ability to tailor to various audiences, seniorities, and technical competencies.
  • Understanding of UK sustainability and carbon guidance and standards used within infrastructure and corporate reporting, across both public and private sectors.
  • Eagerness to lead, support, and develop direct reports within a team.
