Main duties include conducting routine and urgent appointments, prescribing according to local and national guidelines, handling home visits, and managing administrative tasks.

The role also involves participating in on-call sessions, supporting Extended Hours services, and collaborating with other health and social care providers to deliver integrated care.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and urgent appointments, both face-to-face and via telephone, ensuring high-quality care.
  • Prescribe according to local and national guidelines.
  • Handle home visits for routine and emergency cases.
  • Manage administrative tasks, such as letters, results, referrals, and emails, in a timely manner.
  • Make appropriate referrals and manage related admin.
  • Check and sign repeat prescriptions to maintain care quality.
  • Provide cover for colleagues in emergencies, considering individual commitments.
  • Participate in on-call sessions as per pro-rata hours.
  • Support Extended Hours services, enhancing patient access.
  • Collaborate with other health and social care providers to deliver integrated care.
  • Maintain accurate consultation records using the Emis system.
  • Offer clinical support to colleagues, helping the team meet high standards in patient care and QOF/Enhanced Services targets.
