About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Highways Engineer to lead our team in Central London. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the design of highways and public realm projects, ensuring technically sound solutions that meet industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Oversee the design and delivery of highways and public realm projects.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Technical Excellence: Develop and implement cutting-edge design solutions for urban transport and public realm challenges.
  • Team Mentorship: Mentor and lead a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Project Delivery: Ensure timely and within-budget project delivery, managing resources and budgets effectively.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain rigorous quality control on all project deliverables, ensuring compliance with company standards.

Requirements

  • Detailed Design Expertise: Possess in-depth knowledge of detailed design principles, with the ability to produce high-quality design documents and technical drawings.
  • Public Realm Design Skills: Demonstrate expertise in public realm project design, considering spatial planning, user accessibility, and aesthetic considerations in urban spaces.
  • Cycleway and Active Transport Infrastructure: Have experience in designing and implementing cycleways, pedestrian pathways, and other active transport infrastructure.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficient in relevant design software and possess a solid understanding of design standards such as DMRB, Manual for Streets, and relevant guidance on sustainable urban mobility.
