About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Credit Control and Accounts Payable Manager to join our team at City & Guilds. This is a fixed-term role with a view to becoming permanent, initially for a 6-month contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the company's credit control processes to ensure timely collection of outstanding payments.
  • Oversee all aspects of accounts payable, including processing and verifying supplier invoices.
  • Monitor and manage the company's accounts receivable ledger, conducting credit checks on new customers and establishing credit limits.
  • Generate and send out invoices and account statements, following up on overdue payments through phone calls, emails, and letters.
  • Negotiate payment plans and credit terms with customers, recording and reconciling incoming payments.
  • Prepare regular reports on aging accounts, outstanding receivables, and collection activities, liaising with sales and customer service teams to resolve payment disputes.
  • Implement and maintain credit control policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in credit control and/or accounts payable roles.
  • Proficiency in Sage 200 accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and people skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a proactive approach to managing customer accounts and supplier relationships.
