English Graduate Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and driven English Graduate to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in a supportive and welcoming secondary school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students who may need extra help in English
  • Assist classroom teachers with lesson preparation, marking, and delivering engaging and creative lessons
  • Support students during English lessons, helping them with reading comprehension, writing skills, and literary analysis
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of intervention sessions for students who may be underachieving or require additional assistance
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and resources to support differentiated learning
  • Help students to prepare for exams and assessments, providing guidance on revision techniques and effective study strategies
  • Monitor student progress, provide feedback to teachers, and help to adapt lesson plans to meet individual student needs
  • Support teachers in creating a positive learning environment by promoting good behaviour and fostering a love for reading and writing
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, such as supporting English clubs, reading groups, or school events that promote literacy
  • Offer pastoral support to students, helping to boost their confidence and encouraging positive attitudes towards learning

Requirements:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in English or a related subject
  • A strong passion for English literature, language, and education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A genuine desire to help students develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills
  • Previous experience working with young people, either in an educational setting or through voluntary work, is desirable but not essential
  • A desire to pursue a career in teaching, education, or a related field
