English Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and driven English Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position is set to start in October and will run until the end of the academic year, with the opportunity for the role to become permanent based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the English department, working closely with students to help them achieve their academic potential. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to students who may need extra help in English
  • Assisting classroom teachers with lesson preparation, marking, and delivering engaging and creative lessons
  • Supporting students during English lessons, helping them with reading comprehension, writing skills, and literary analysis
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of intervention sessions for students who may be underachieving or require additional assistance
  • Assisting in the preparation of teaching materials and resources to support differentiated learning
  • Helping students to prepare for exams and assessments, providing guidance on revision techniques and effective study strategies
  • Monitoring student progress, providing feedback to teachers, and helping to adapt lesson plans to meet individual student needs
  • Supporting teachers in creating a positive learning environment by promoting good behaviour and fostering a love for reading and writing
  • Participating in extracurricular activities, such as supporting English clubs, reading groups, or school events that promote literacy
  • Offering pastoral support to students, helping to boost their confidence and encouraging positive attitudes towards learning

What We’re Looking For:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in English or a related subject
  • A strong passion for English literature, language, and education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A genuine desire to help students develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills
  • Previous experience working with young people, either in an educational setting or through voluntary work, is desirable but not essential
  • A desire to pursue a career in teaching, education, or a related field
