Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position starting in October and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role depending on performance. The salary for this role is between £419.25 and £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support the English department in delivering engaging and effective lessons. This role is well-suited for recent English graduates who are considering a career in education and want to gain practical experience in a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Work alongside English teachers to assist in the planning and delivery of lessons. You will help ensure that students are engaged, supported, and able to access the curriculum effectively.

  • Targeted Tutoring: Provide focused support to students who need additional help in English. This may involve one-on-one tutoring or working with small groups to reinforce key concepts, improve literacy skills, and help students reach their academic potential.

  • Resource Creation: Assist in developing and preparing teaching materials that cater to diverse learning styles. This includes creating worksheets, lesson plans, and interactive activities that enhance the learning experience.

  • Student Engagement: Encourage and support students in developing a strong understanding of English literature and language. Help foster a positive learning environment where students feel confident in their abilities and motivated to learn.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Support the assessment process by helping to mark student work, track progress, and provide feedback. Assist teachers in identifying students who may need additional support and help plan interventions.

  • Exam Preparation: Assist students in preparing for exams by conducting revision sessions, helping with practice papers, and providing guidance on effective study techniques.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in English or a related subject.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Passionate about English and committed to helping students achieve their best.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable, with a positive approach to working with young people.
  • Previous experience working with students or in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
