Key Responsibilities:
  • Classroom Support: Assist English teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, helping students understand and enjoy the subject.
  • Literacy Support: Provide focused literacy support to students who may struggle with reading, writing, or comprehension, improving their confidence and skills in these areas.
  • Resource Preparation: Assist in preparing lesson materials, such as handouts, worksheets, and visual aids, ensuring they are accessible and engaging for all students.
  • One-on-One Tutoring: Offer one-on-one tutoring sessions to students who require extra help with their English studies, supporting them in completing assignments and understanding complex texts.
  • Encouraging a Love for Reading: Help foster a love for reading by encouraging students to explore a variety of texts, leading small reading groups, and creating an environment where literature is celebrated.
  • Behavior Management: Assist in maintaining a positive classroom environment by helping manage student behavior, supporting the teacher in implementing strategies to keep students focused and engaged.
  • Progress Monitoring: Keep track of students' progress in English, noting their strengths and areas for improvement, and providing valuable feedback to the teacher.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Support and participate in extracurricular activities related to English, such as book clubs, writing workshops, or school plays, helping students see the subject's relevance beyond the classroom.
Requirements:
  • A recent graduate with a degree in English or a related field who is considering a career in teaching or education.
  • A strong passion for English literature and language, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a knack for explaining complex ideas clearly.
  • A proactive attitude, with the ability to take initiative and adapt to the needs of the classroom.
  • Previous experience working with young people, either in a school setting or through volunteering, is advantageous but not essential.
  • A commitment to helping students achieve their full potential and a desire to contribute positively to their educational journey.
