English Graduate Teaching Assistant Needed in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic English Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Levenshulme as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time role is available for an immediate start and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent position depending on performance. The pay for this position ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be a key part of the English department, supporting both teachers and students in achieving academic success. Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Work alongside English teachers to deliver engaging lessons. You will assist in managing the classroom, ensuring all students are participating and comprehending the material. Your role will include providing one-on-one or small group support to students who need extra help with their reading, writing, and understanding of literary concepts.

  • Intervention Sessions: Conduct targeted intervention sessions for students who require additional support. This may involve working with students who are below their expected reading or writing levels or helping those who need a boost in their confidence with the subject.

  • Resource Preparation: Assist in the development and preparation of teaching resources. This could include creating lesson plans, preparing worksheets, or organizing reading materials. You will work closely with the English department to ensure resources meet the needs of all students.

  • Behaviour Management: Help maintain a positive learning environment by supporting classroom behaviour policies. You will assist in managing student behaviour during lessons and encourage a respectful and focused classroom atmosphere.

  • Progress Monitoring: Track the progress of students you work with and provide feedback to teaching staff. This will involve monitoring improvements in literacy skills and helping to assess students' work. You may also participate in meetings to discuss strategies for supporting students further.

  • Extracurricular Activities: Support English-related extracurricular activities, such as book clubs, drama workshops, or school newspaper projects. This is a great opportunity to inspire students outside of the regular curriculum and foster a love for English.

  • Pastoral Care: Offer pastoral support to students, helping them with both academic and personal challenges. You will be a trusted adult that students can approach for guidance and advice, contributing to their overall well-being.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with English teachers and other staff members to ensure students receive comprehensive support. Collaboration and communication will be key to providing the best learning experience for the students.

Requirements:

  • A degree in English, Literature, or a related field.
  • A passion for education and working with young people.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain literary concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
