Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a reputable secondary school in Levenshulme. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the English department in delivering engaging and effective lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Work alongside English teachers to assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring students are engaged, supported, and able to access the curriculum effectively.
  • Targeted Tutoring: Provide focused support to students who need additional help in English, including one-on-one tutoring or working with small groups to reinforce key concepts, improve literacy skills, and help students reach their academic potential.
  • Resource Creation: Assist in developing and preparing teaching materials that cater to diverse learning styles, including creating worksheets, lesson plans, and interactive activities that enhance the learning experience.
  • Student Engagement: Encourage and support students in developing a strong understanding of English literature and language, helping to foster a positive learning environment where students feel confident in their abilities and motivated to learn.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Support the assessment process by helping to mark student work, track progress, and provide feedback, assisting teachers in identifying students who may need additional support and helping plan interventions.
  • Exam Preparation: Assist students in preparing for exams by conducting revision sessions, helping with practice papers, and providing guidance on effective study techniques.

Requirements:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in English or a related subject.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Passionate about English and committed to helping students achieve their best.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable, with a positive approach to working with young people.
  • Previous experience working with students or in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
