Nuclear Shielding Engineer

We are looking for a Nuclear Shielding Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems, responsible for the design and validation of radiation shielding for the UK's nuclear powered submarine fleet.
The estimated salary for this position is £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
In this role, you will conduct radiological safety assessments, assess radiation damage risk to electronics, develop and deploy radiation detection systems, and complete the systems engineering design of the secondary shielding system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting radiological safety assessments
- Assessing radiation damage risk to electronics
- Developing and deploying radiation detection systems
- Completing the systems engineering design of the secondary shielding system
- Running and analysing point kernel and Monte-Carlo calculations
- Providing technical advice on impact of changes and defects across the whole boat
- Developing ALARP justifications in support of design decisions
