About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Post Office Counter Manager to join our team in our Alton Store. As a Post Office Counter Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of counter assistants to deliver exceptional customer service, meet business objectives, and maintain the security of cash and postal items.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a customer-centric culture that drives continuous improvement and provides a professional, friendly service to all customers.
  • Contribute to the store team's efforts to increase sales and attract more customers to the Post Office and Store.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, Post Office Ltd. standards, and ongoing training.
  • Motivate and guide the team to achieve individual and branch targets, focusing on sales growth, reduced waste, and lower staff costs in a supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with the Cluster Manager to identify cost savings and revenue enhancement opportunities through in-depth analysis of the Profit & Loss statement.
  • Support the Cluster Manager in managing the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, appraisals, training, and disciplinary procedures.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in retail management or a related field, preferably with expertise in financial products or high-value cash handling.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive store goals, including increasing sales, reducing shrinkage, and managing P&L accounts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of coaching and mentoring teams.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve success.

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include a competitive salary, pension scheme, holidays (33 days including bank holidays), and employee discounts up to 50%.
