Head of Health and Safety

As the Head of Health, you will lead a team of Health and Safety professionals, fostering a culture of excellence in the delivery of Health and Safety performance across United Utilities' operational and capital project activities. Your role will be pivotal in shaping and driving the successful implementation of Health and Safety strategies that align with the company's overarching goals, ensuring high standards of safety throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and track Health and Safety plans aligned with the United Utilities Health and Safety strategy, escalating concerns as needed.
- Participate in leadership meetings and field visits to support the implementation of Health and Safety policies, procedures, and improvement plans across all business areas.
- Build strong relationships with operations and leadership teams to address Health and Safety challenges, analyse data, and identify improvement opportunities, representing United Utilities in the Water UK Health and Safety Forum.
- Provide Health and Safety advice, coach managers on leadership behaviors, and ensure effective incident investigation and communication of lessons learned.
- Mentor the Health and Safety team, support their development, and contribute to the creation and execution of the United Utilities Health and Safety strategy and framework.
- Qualified to Degree and/or Health and Safety diploma level or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
- Experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams with the ability to identify/acquire talent and influence high-performance.
- Detailed understanding of Health & Safety legislation and a provable track record of delivering sustained Health and Safety performance improvement.
- Demonstrable internal/external stakeholder management skills with experience influencing, coaching and negotiating with senior leadership.
- Hold a current UK/EU driving licence.
