Section Manager for Virology and Molecular Services

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is a leading provider of healthcare services in the South Midlands region. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Section Manager to lead our Virology and Molecular Pathology services, which provide critical support to our hospitals and community services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and delivering all aspects of the departmental training program, ensuring that staff receive the necessary training and development to meet the demands of this complex and challenging role. As a key member of the Section Manager team, you will play a vital role in the safe and effective delivery of new services, working closely with other departments to ensure seamless integration.
Main duties of the job
- Coordinate discipline training programme, including CBTRs, competency assessments, generic and specialist portfolios, and other formal qualifications.
- Facilitate compliance to PDRs and mandatory training in conjunction with performance section manager.
- Attend external training/meetings and incorporate learning into Network service improvements.
- Organize, prepare, and deliver formal training sessions for staff in discipline.
- Daily manage and monitor staff in the performance of routine and specialized diagnostic services on patient and environmental samples containing potentially infectious material.
- Design and plan departmental rotas, allocate, and reallocate work schedules for themselves and the team and determine work priorities to meet service needs.
- Support the Department Manager in planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating the pathology service and deputise for the Pathology Department Manager as required.

Salary
£45,000 - £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
