Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics IT Specialist to join our Molecular Assay Development team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing bioinformatics tools and workflows to support our research and development initiatives. You will work closely with our team of experienced bioinformaticians to analyze and interpret large-scale genomic and transcriptomics data, and to develop and maintain databases and web-based tools for data storage and retrieval.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and document bioinformatics tools and workflows to support molecular assay development
  • Analyze and interpret large-scale genomic and transcriptomics data
  • Implement and optimize algorithms for data processing and analysis
  • Develop and maintain databases and web-based tools for data storage and retrieval
  • Provide IT support for bioinformatics infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and cloud computing environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to bioinformatics tools and systems
  • Become a knowledge expert for bioinformatic workflows and coach and mentor colleagues to ensure development of a learning environment
  • Ensure adherence to design control procedures and to the required quality and regulatory standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Perl
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Experience in the analysis of genomics data (NGS and/or PCR) and knowledge of human genetics, genomics and/or infectious disease
  • Knowledge of core bioinformatics tools and relevant bioinformatics databases (dbSNP, COSMIC, etc.), and a basic knowledge of statistics is expected
  • Knowledge of primer design tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
