Enforcement Team Leader Opportunity

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is delighted to be supporting a Local Authority in Derbyshire on the hire of an Enforcement Team Leader (Grade 10). This is a full-time and permanent position (37 hours per week) with hybrid working arrangements, allowing for a blend of home and office working.

About the Role

The main purpose of this role is to manage a small team of planning enforcement officers, ensuring investigations into reported breaches of planning control are conducted in accordance with the District Council's Enforcement Customer Charter and Service Standards. The successful candidate will lead on negotiations, planning applications, and appeal work arising from such investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of planning enforcement officers to ensure effective investigations and resolution of breaches of planning legislation
  • Lead on negotiations, planning applications, and appeal work
  • Collaborate with the Director of Place and Economy to achieve team goals and objectives
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve team performance and efficiency
Requirements
  • Relevant Town Planning qualification or related discipline
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of planning legislation, planning enforcement, and case law
  • Staff management experience
  • Driving Licence and ability to visit sites throughout the council's area
