About the Role

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology Laboratory team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for processing specialist investigations, providing expert advice to clinicians, and leading on specialist areas.

Main Responsibilities

  • Process specialist investigations in the department, ensuring high-quality results and accurate diagnoses.
  • Provide specialist advice to clinicians on test appropriateness and timescales, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Develop and implement specialist services, including training and problem-solving for specialist requirements.
  • Work independently and lead on specialist areas, supervising and training less experienced staff.
  • Act as a mentor for junior scientific and support staff, promoting professional development and growth.
  • Contribute to the development of the laboratory, participating in quality management systems and IT systems.
