Job Title: Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Haematology

Cambridge University Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology Department. As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, you will be responsible for processing specialist investigations, providing expert advice to clinicians, and leading on specialist areas.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Biomedical Science, with a relevant degree and IBMS Specialist Diploma. You will also have experience working in a NHS diagnostic haematology laboratory and be familiar with Pathology IT systems and Quality Management Systems.

The role will involve rotation into automated haematology, coagulation, morphology, and haemoglobinopathy sections. You will be expected to work flexibly, including an extended working day and participation in the 24/7 shift system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process specialist investigations in the department

  • Lead on specialist areas, including training and problem-solving

  • Supervise and train less experienced staff
  • Contribute to the development of new treatments and technologies
Requirements:
  • HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent
  • IBMS Specialist Diploma in relevant discipline or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working in a NHS diagnostic haematology laboratory
  • Knowledge of Pathology IT systems and Quality Management Systems
