About the Role

Cambridge University Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology Department. As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality diagnostic services to patients. You will be responsible for processing specialist investigations, providing expert advice to clinicians, and supervising less experienced staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process specialist investigations in the department
  • Provide specialist advice to clinicians on test appropriateness and timescales
  • Supervise and train less experienced staff in specialist areas
  • Work independently and lead on specialist areas as directed by the Lead BMS
  • Act as a mentor for junior scientific and support staff
  • Participate in the 24/7 shift system and work flexibly to meet service needs

Requirements
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • Biomedical Science degree or equivalent
  • IBMS Specialist Diploma in relevant discipline or equivalent qualification
  • Substantial practical experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory
