The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of internal communications professionals within the Directorate of IT Services, working closely with the Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment Directorate, as well as colleagues across the University.

They will support the development and delivery of the University's internal communications and engagement service and strategy, ensuring the production of dynamic communications and campaigns, and making sure colleagues at all levels are engaged, informed, and receiving consistent messages across the University, with a particular focus on IT.

The postholder will ensure a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement across the team by putting our colleagues and students at the heart of everything we do, and embedding a positive sense of identity, direction, purpose, and community.

This role involves evening and weekend commitments, and the appointee must be prepared to work outside regular office hours and support an out-of-hours rota as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver dynamic internal communications, campaigns, and associated engagement activities.
  • Think strategically and exercise leadership to achieve clear objectives and performance goals.
  • Effectively lead and manage a team, with evidence of setting and achieving clear objectives and performance goals.
  • Work collaboratively across organisational boundaries to achieve agreed goals, ideally within an IT environment.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to stakeholders and manage multiple projects/campaigns and operations on behalf of yourself and your team.
  • Review and develop employee digital platforms and understand how IT systems can support and enhance service delivery.
  • Negotiate and build relationships with others, influencing outside the direct sphere of control, and experience of matrix working.
