About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Accountant to support the business at DS Smith Business Services Centre. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional accounting services, utilizing your expertise to handle monthly and yearly accounting tasks, and driving process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the production of annual statutory accounts and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Manage VAT and PSA returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop and implement corporate governance and internal audit procedures, aligning with UK SOX policies.
  • Collaborate with the team to enhance processing and reporting, driving continuous improvement.
  • Support Group and Divisional requirements, providing expert accounting guidance.
  • Engage with auditors and manage year-end activities, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Work with user groups to implement standardized processes and enhancements, promoting best practices.
  • Contribute to Business Services initiatives, such as cross-departmental projects and work transfer activities.

About You

  • Experienced accountant with current knowledge of UKGAAP/IFRS.
  • Professionally qualified (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly SAP.
  • Proven track record in accounting and reporting services.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and shared service environments is beneficial.
