Job Title: Senior Residential Childcare Support Worker

At Polaris Community, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to young people in our residential care settings.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Domestic Duties: Complete key domestic duties on a day-to-day basis to ensure a homely environment is maintained.
  • Activity Planning: Encourage the development of individual interests and attitudes by planning, organising and participating in activities.
  • Welfare and Safety: Promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each young person in accordance with Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018. Assess individual needs and contribute to care and risk plans.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with the young people.
  • Behaviour Management: Manage behaviour positively and assertively by working in line with specified care and risk management plans.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Consult with young people to promote the development of a healthy lifestyle.
  • Networking: Motivate and assist young people in developing and sustaining positive networks with adults and peer groups, including families.
  • Teamwork: Participate in the development, implementation and review of packages of care through team meetings, supervisions.
  • Representation: Attend, and where necessary advocate for the Young Person, in child care reviews.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or Equivalent.
  • Experience: Experience of supporting young people who may be vulnerable is essential.
  • Skills: Be capable of working on their own initiative to a high level of accuracy, maintain clear, neat records. Have good inter-personal skills, and be a positive team player. Computer experience to an intermediate level.
  • Personal Qualities: Empathetic nature. Good oral and written communication skills in a variety of contexts. The ability to engage, motivate and encourage young people.
