We are seeking dedicated individuals to work with our young people in the Christchurch/Canterbury region.

About the Role

Our team delivers daily care and support, helping our young people re-engage with education/vocation, attend appointments, and manage themselves within a safe and supportive environment.

The Care and Protection Homes are group homes providing a secure space for rangatahi across the Canterbury region.

Your Key Tasks
  1. Coaching and guiding rangatahi through structured day activities and life necessities
  2. Engaging in activities with our rangatahi
  3. Supporting our rangatahi with studies, teaching life skills, and mentoring them to make positive life choices
  4. Building rapport with rangatahi who have experienced trauma and assisting with redirecting behaviour
Your Essential Skills
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and children with resilience, initiative, and a proactive approach
  • Empathy, patience, and ability to see past what someone may be struggling with
  • Sound judgement with the ability to manage risk and make tough decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to your audience
  • Understanding of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori
  • A tertiary education in psychology, social sciences, social work, sports, music, arts, or teaching (advantageous)
  • A full New Zealand driver's licence
  • Meet the Children's Act safety checking and vetting requirements
  • Flexibility to work different shifts - mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Salary and Benefits

$50,000 - $65,000 per annum. We offer training and professional development to support your growth and career advancement.
