**Darfield High School** is seeking a dedicated Education Specialist to join our student services team. This permanent position will play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and academic success of our students.

**Job Summary:**

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and support to students, particularly those from rural backgrounds. They will work closely with our existing guidance counsellor and other members of the student services team to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students as needed.

- Develop and implement strategies to improve student engagement and motivation.

- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to provide targeted support to students.

- Stay up-to-date with best practices in adolescent wellbeing and education.

- Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture.

**Requirements:**

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

- A degree in Counselling or a related field.

- Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g. NZAC).

- Proven experience working with adolescents, particularly in a rural setting.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
