About the Role

The Data Forecaster Manager will be responsible for leading a team of analysts in generating accurate forecasts for electricity and gas demand. This is a great opportunity to join our Shell Energy Commercial team and contribute to the success of our B2B retail supply business unit in the UK.

We are looking for an experienced individual with extensive knowledge of the retail energy market, industry datasets, and business acumen. You must have a strong understanding of numerical, interpersonal, and commercial skills to manage competing priorities in a pressured environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing a team of analysts to develop and grow the team's capabilities in demand forecasting.
  2. Developing and implementing new demand forecasting technologies to drive change within the organization.
  3. Collaborating with senior leaders across pricing, commercial, and trading to influence hedging strategies.
  4. Supporting the team in ensuring clear roles and responsibilities, workloads are managed, and individuals are developing their skills.

What We Need from You

You must possess:

  1. Excellent modelling skills, data extraction, manipulation, and computational skills using programme languages (SQL, Python, Visual Basic, R etc.).
  2. Demonstrable experience of improving demand forecasting performance.
  3. Familiarity with best practice methodologies for both short and long-term forecasts.
  4. Experience in building demand forecasting models from scratch and comfortable working with existing code to resolve issues.
  5. Strong communication skills to distil complex issues and make clear recommendations to aid decision making.

We offer a competitive salary of £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a range of benefits including a pension scheme, health insurance, and flexible working arrangements.
