Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their dynamic team. As the Health and Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all employees, subcontractors, and visitors on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy Development and Implementation:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and industry standards.
    • Conduct regular reviews and updates of health and safety policies to reflect changes in legislation and best practices.
  • Risk Assessment and Management:
    • Conduct thorough risk assessments for all site activities.
    • Implement appropriate control measures to mitigate identified risks.
    • Monitor and review risk assessments regularly to ensure their effectiveness.
  • Training and Education:
    • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees and subcontractors.
    • Ensure all site personnel are adequately trained and informed about health and safety procedures.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and awareness in health and safety practices.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting:
    • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses.
    • Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Ensure all incidents are reported in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.
  • Site Inspections and Audits:
    • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
    • Identify and address any potential health and safety issues promptly.
    • Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and corrective actions taken.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and external stakeholders on health and safety matters.
    • Provide expert advice and support on health and safety issues.
    • Foster positive relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications and Experience:
    • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
    • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager in the construction industry, preferably with a focus on groundwork and builders' work packages.
    • In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
