About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Nurse in Dermatology to lead our dermatology services and contribute to the development of excellent care provision in this specialty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead dermatology research projects and academic activities in collaboration with colleagues at relevant academic institutions.
  • Contribute to and lead new initiatives that are developments and innovations between the service, and relevant external agencies, locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Undertake consultative work that has importance locally, nationally, and internationally for the advancement of dermatology practice.
  • Practice at an advanced level of professional autonomy and accountability that is within national guidelines, Trust policies and NMC Codes of Conduct.
Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Relevant Masters degree
  • Qualified NMP V300 Qualification
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Extensive experience working at Advanced level in Dermatology

Experience

  • Evidence of extensive expert professional knowledge in Dermatology supplemented by specialist managerial / leadership training and CPD
  • Evidence of research activity undertaken, publications, conference presentations
  • Evidence of leadership development
  • Evidence of persuasive and strong influencing skills and the ability to manage conflict
  • Evidence of involvement in policy and practice change

Skills

  • Effective communicator- able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information and demonstrate negotiation skills
  • Evidence of effective people management and leadership skills
  • Able to demonstrate assertiveness and, tact, and diplomacy appropriately
  • Demonstrates ability to make operational judgments involving highly complex facts / situations
  • Has the ability to manage conflicting views and reconciles inter and intra professional differences of opinion

Knowledge

  • Demonstrates highly developed specialist expertise and knowledge underpinned by theory acquired through CPD
  • Proven record of leading and effectively managing change across organisations
  • Detailed knowledge of the NHS agenda, with explicit understanding of current issues in Nursing
  • Evidence of relevant involvement in meeting the Trust clinical governance objectives.
