**Community and Skills Directorate Leadership Opportunity**

Join the Greater London Authority (GLA) as a key leader in shaping the city's careers, skills, and employment support ecosystem. As Assistant Director, Communities, you will play a crucial role in ensuring London's diverse talent is supported and that the city's careers and skills ecosystem works together to serve both employers and Londoners.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Work closely with the Assistant Director for Skills and Employment Delivery to develop and implement strategies that promote social justice, people management, and organisational design.
  • Lead a team of over 150 staff members, providing strategic direction and thinking through the design of strategies, policies, projects, and programmes.
  • Manage and lead direct teams, ensuring high performance, removing barriers, and fostering collaboration amongst teams.
  • Represent the unit and wider GLA at external events, panels, and working groups to shape national policy and the skills and employment ecosystem in line with London's needs.

**Requirements:**

  • Senior management experience leading a multi-disciplinary team providing analysis and advice across a range of policy issues in a complex political environment.
  • Track record of delivery in managing complex and politically sensitive multi-agency projects or similar breadth of experience in a complex business environment.
  • Sound awareness, knowledge, and understanding of the current issues within London in the context of careers, skills, and employment support.
  • Familiarity with financial management principles, including budget formulation and financial monitoring.
