We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Specialist Autism Support Worker to provide essential support for students with autism and sensory processing challenges in our primary school in Lambeth.

The role is integral in fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. With a strong focus on individual growth, we aim to create a supportive atmosphere that encourages both academic and social development for students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sensory-friendly support in the classroom to enhance the learning experience for students with autism and sensory processing challenges.
  • Implementing calming techniques and sensory breaks tailored to individual students' needs to ensure they feel safe and focused during lessons.
  • Collaborating closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers to develop and adapt lesson plans that accommodate sensory needs and promote engagement.
  • Monitoring and documenting students' responses to various teaching strategies and sensory activities, providing feedback to the SENCO for further adjustments.
  • Building trusting relationships with students, encouraging their social interactions, and helping them navigate the school environment comfortably.
  • Engaging with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and share effective strategies to support learning at home.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting students with autism and sensory processing needs is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with sensory integration techniques and interventions that promote engagement and learning.
  • A calm, patient, and flexible approach to working with students with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and maintain open lines of communication with parents.
  • A clear DBS check is required to ensure the safety and welfare of all students.

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a competitive salary package, including pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, and professional development opportunities.
