Our team comprises psychologists, psychotherapists, and counselors dedicated to helping individuals adapt to and find innovative solutions for managing physical health challenges. The service operates across multiple regions, providing a range of contracts in each area. We invite discussions with candidates interested in either single or multiple roles available due to service growth and staff advancements.

Key Responsibilities

We encourage applications from both seasoned professionals and those newly qualified (or soon to be qualified) in psychology. The successful candidate will be classified according to their experience and will receive a tailored and structured professional development program within the position. While experience in a physical health environment is preferred, we are also interested in applicants from other specialties who possess transferable skills. Essential qualities include effective communication, collaborative teamwork, and creative problem-solving.

The successful candidates will join a dedicated and enthusiastic team of practitioner psychologists and other psychological professionals who employ a diverse range of therapeutic methods. Opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD) and supervision across various models, including EMDR, psychodynamic, attachment, humanistic, and third-wave approaches, will be available. In each role, you will collaborate with a Principal Psychologist and other applied psychologists, supported by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. A strong leadership and supervision framework is established, alongside operational management.

Job Duties

As part of a multidisciplinary team that includes a Medical Consultant, Psychologist, Physiotherapist, and Occupational Therapist, you will apply a biopsychosocial model in your assessments. Regarding the psychological aspects, clients may be referred for individual physical health psychology sessions, psychological management programs, counseling, or directed to suitable services based on their physical, social, and psychological requirements.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in applied psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the BPS, covering models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, multiple psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Post-doctoral training in specialized areas of psychological practice.
  • HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist with Chartered Status.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Training in clinical supervision and supervision of doctoral trainees.
  • Experience as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service, working with diverse client groups across various clinical settings.

Desirable

  • Registration with the BPS.
  • Experience collaborating with statutory, voluntary, and private sector organizations.
