Our team comprises psychologists, psychotherapists, and counselors dedicated to helping individuals adapt to and creatively manage physical health challenges. The Physical Health Psychology Service operates across multiple regions, and we are currently looking to fill several vacancies due to service expansion and staff promotions. We encourage discussions with candidates interested in either single positions or a combination of roles.

Key Responsibilities

We invite applications from both seasoned professionals and those newly qualified (or soon to qualify) in psychology. The successful candidate will be classified according to their experience and will receive a tailored and structured professional development program. While experience in a physical health context is preferred, we are also interested in candidates from other specialties who possess transferable skills. Essential qualities include strong communication abilities, collaborative teamwork, and innovative thinking.

Successful candidates will join a dedicated and enthusiastic team of practitioner psychologists and other psychological professionals, utilizing a diverse range of therapeutic methodologies. Opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD) and supervision are available across various models, including EMDR, psychodynamic, attachment, humanistic, and third-wave approaches. In this role, you will collaborate with a Principal Psychologist and other applied psychologists, supported by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. A robust leadership and supervision framework is established, alongside operational management.

Job Duties

As part of a multidisciplinary team, including a Medical Consultant, Psychologist, Physiotherapist, and Occupational Therapist, you will apply a biopsychosocial model in your assessments. Clients may be referred for individual physical health psychology sessions, psychological management programs, counseling, or directed to suitable services based on their physical, social, and psychological needs.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in applied psychology accredited by the BPS, covering psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, multiple psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Post-doctoral training in specialized areas of psychological practice.
  • HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist with Chartered Status.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Training in clinical supervision and supervision of doctoral trainees.
  • Experience as a qualified applied psychologist across diverse client groups and clinical settings.

Desirable

  • Registration with BPS.
  • Experience collaborating with statutory, voluntary, and private sector organizations.
