Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to fill the role of Principal Systemic Family Psychotherapist in our dynamic team. The position involves serving as the Deputy Therapies Lead at Lavender Walk and leading the Tier 4 Family Therapist team. This opportunity allows for the further development of systemic thinking and practice.

The successful candidate will join our 12-bed General Adolescent Unit (GAU), caring for young people between the ages of 13-18 with complex mental health needs and emotional difficulties. Our service area includes Brent, Harrow, Hillingdon, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, and Hounslow.

The team at Lavender Walk consists of various professionals, including Consultant Psychiatrists, Consultant Clinical Psychologists, Matron, Ward Manager, Qualified Nurses, Nurse Associates, Health Care Assistants, Speciality Doctors, Junior Doctors, Occupational Therapist, Art Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Dietician, Clinical Psychologists, Systemic Family Psychotherapists, Social Workers, and Teaching staff.

Main Duties of the Job

The ideal candidate will be part of the Senior Management Team (SMT), influencing and supporting the service development and growth. They will lead on ensuring the provision of highly specialist systemic interventions, formulation, and practice. The post-holder will provide line management and clinical supervision to specific members of the Lavender Walk therapy team and deputise for the Therapies Lead in their absence.

The post-holder will have strong links with Systemic Family Psychotherapist colleagues within the CNWL service line and will provide clinical supervision for Systemic Family Psychotherapists in CNWL's Tier 4 CAMHS pathway.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing highly specialist systemic interventions, formulation, and practice
  • Leading the Tier 4 Family Therapist team
  • Providing line management and clinical supervision to specific members of the Lavender Walk therapy team
  • Deputising for the Therapies Lead in their absence

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A post-graduate qualification in a relevant mental health/social welfare profession
  • A Master's level qualification in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy or equivalent qualification, accredited by UKCP
  • Additional training in a specialised area of systemic practice through formal post-qualification training
  • Registration with the UKCP as a Systemic Psychotherapist

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Training in Supervision accredited by AFT to supervise qualified Systemic and Family Psychotherapists
  • Training in or knowledge of Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), and/or Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT)
