Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Human Resources Specialist to join our team at KBR, where you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our circa 400-strong nuclear project team working on the Sellafield Programme and Project Partnership (PPP).

This position is based in our Cumbria office in Whitehaven, West Cumbria, and requires regular travel to client offices in Warrington. As the dedicated HR professional for this project, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day HR activities while actively contributing to the development and execution of the HR agenda and people strategies.

You will provide expert advice and support across all people-related activities, collaborating closely with our enthusiastic and experienced People team in Warrington and Surrey. This is a truly collaborative and diverse role that offers opportunities for growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and execution of the HR agenda and people strategies to build a strong Employee Value Proposition.
  • Provide day-to-day support on people issues raised by managers and employees, advising on company policy and procedure.
  • Support line managers on the informal resolution of issues as well as advising and supporting formal disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, and performance management issues.
  • Provide guidance and training to improve manager capabilities.
  • Work with the HR team to identify areas for improvement within the project to drive positive change.
  • Support managers and capability leads with talent calibration and succession planning.
  • Create new and better ways of working, drive improvements, and initiatives.
  • Uphold and maintain the brand, image, and professionalism of the HR team.
  • Stay up to date with legislative changes impacting the business and HR profession.

Requirements

  • Possess a proven track record and previous experience in a similar role.
  • Be passionate about HR and committed to the profession.
  • Display a curiosity-driven mindset with the ability to spot opportunities for improvement and drive them forward.
  • Show confidence in challenging the status quo and adopting a flexible approach to change.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Hold a strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • CIPD qualification is desirable but not essential.
