Job Title: Security Team Leader

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Security Team Leader to join our Security Department at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Security Team, ensuring a high-profile, visible uniformed presence to provide reassurance to all persons. This includes supervising and administering security staff, coordinating staff duties, and responding to security incidents within an agreed time frame.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Manage the daily operations of the Security Team, ensuring a high-profile, visible uniformed presence.
  2. Supervise and administer security staff, including appraisals, attendance sheets, sickness/absence records, disciplinary investigations, training, and the implementation of the Trust's policies and procedures.
  3. Coordinate staff duties, ensuring coverage during absences and directing patrols and escorts.
  4. Respond to security incidents within an agreed time frame and provide support to medical staff during emergencies.
  5. Liaise with Emergency Services and the Trust's Works Department as necessary.
  6. Coordinate and work as part of the Fire Response Team.
  7. Manage the hospital's Security Control Room, monitoring alarms and CCTV cameras.
  8. Use designated powers and policies when intervening at incidents.
  9. Promote a pro-security culture within the Trust.
  10. Investigate security incidents in a fair and professional manner.
  11. Manage the hospital's car parking systems and enforce Trust's parking policies.
  12. Attend court to give evidence as required.
  13. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
  14. Comply with the Trust and local security policies.
  15. Take additional responsibilities in the absence of a Security Manager.
  16. Support risk management for the Directorate and the Trust.
Requirements

  • Familiarity with, or willingness to undertake training in, CCTV operation and other security IT systems.
  • Willingness to undertake physical training in restraint techniques.
  • Physically fit to carry out physical intervention.

  • Demonstrate accountability for actions.
  • High levels of personal integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and empathy skills.
  • Proficient in the use of ICT including Windows and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience of working in a large organisation.
  • Experience of working in a security environment.
  • Knowledge of Police and Criminal Evidence Act and common law relating to powers of arrest and the use of force.
