About this role:

The Injury Management Advisor plays a pivotal part in ensuring the quality of decision-making within claims management, promoting consistency in approach and adherence to legislation. This role involves providing clinical and injury management technical expertise to assess personal injury claims for reasonable and appropriate treatment and rehabilitation requirements, enabling the department to achieve claims management objectives.

This position contributes to proactive claims management across the Statutory division through early identification and management of rehabilitation needs, applying evidence-based injury management principles, and ensuring cost-effective intervention is provided in a timely manner. The role also influences effective claims strategy within the claims team.

As an Injury Management Advisor, you will be accountable for coaching and mentoring Claim Advisors to ensure a sound understanding of injury management is applied when making decisions, assisting in the development of legislative and regulatory knowledge and skills.

Main responsibilities:

  • Review claim files and provide subject matter expertise to claims handlers, including interpreting medical reports, providing injury management advice, and determining rehabilitation and treatment requirements.
  • Prepare professional written and verbal advice to claims handlers on reasonable and appropriate treatment and rehabilitation services and recommendations for future rehabilitation management.
  • Provide consistent injury management expertise and support to ensure ongoing quality decisions and contribute to claims strategy.
  • Work within the designated Delegation of Authority.
  • Engage and negotiate with Service Providers, Claimants, Solicitors, and claims staff.

Requirements:

  • Degree in an Allied Health-related discipline is mandatory.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of Workers Compensation/CTP Experience (desired).
  • Minimum 2 years of Occupational Rehabilitation experience (desired for Workers Compensation).
  • Ability to identify developmental needs of team members and recommend training activities to achieve positive outcomes.
