Senior Personal Injury Lawyer

We are a leading Personal Injury law firm with a strong reputation in our field, specialising in complex, high-value claims. Our Complex Injury teams are dedicated to providing exceptional legal service to clients and we have market-leading advisors who are at the forefront in the defence of complex and catastrophic injury claims.
As a Senior Personal Injury Lawyer, you will be responsible for:
- Handling your own case load of large loss RTA claims mostly valued between £25,000 and £100,000 with some cases up to £150,000.
- Communicating with insurer clients, dealing with queries and providing progress updates.
- Forensic analysis of often voluminous quantum evidence, preparing chronologies, identifying anomalies and other relevant information across various sources and categories of evidence.
- Using your existing knowledge of complex injury symptomology to identify relevant issues within medical records in order to instruct medical experts, drawing key issues to their attention.
- Critical analysis of sources of liability evidence and identifying any gaps.
- Drafting concise technical advice on all aspects of claim handling to include advice on reserves, indemnity, liability, quantum and causation issues and claims resolution for strategy discussion with the Lead Lawyer as appropriate.
- Liaising with parties involved in claims including the insured, insurer, witnesses etc.
- Instructing counsel and attending conferences, JSMs, mediations both remotely and in person.
- Attend court in person or by telephone, attend trials, settlement conferences etc as required.
- Delivery of agreed performance targets and quality standards.
Location:
The primary location for this role is Newcastle Office although other Keoghs offices will be considered. The successful candidate must be flexible to commute to the Newcastle office on an ad-hoc basis to interact with their peers.
Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor, CILEX or proven relevant legal experience – it is essential you have handled cases up to £100K in your own name.
- Experience of indemnity and RTA liability and complex medical issues and causation is essential.
- Experience working in a similar role assisting on large loss and/or catastrophic injury claims.
- Ideally you will have defendant experience but we will consider a claimant background.
- Desire to want to develop more junior members of the team.
