About the Role

HUC is seeking a skilled and compassionate NHS 111 Call Handler to join our team. As a key member of our operation, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring that individuals receive the right medical attention when they need it most.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a high-quality, safe, and competent call handling service for callers to NHS111, including patients, their representatives, and healthcare professionals.
  • Represent HUC in a professional and courteous manner, adhering to agreed protocols.
  • Prioritize presenting clinical symptoms, supported by decision support software, throughout a 24-hour period.
  • Use the NHS Pathways software to provide the appropriate response based on the patient's symptoms/needs.
  • Ensure patients are prioritized appropriately and directed to the most suitable service, which may involve transferring the call to a clinician, dispatching an ambulance, or referring to other available services.
  • Liaise with other agencies and healthcare providers to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
  • Identify and report any issues that may negatively impact service delivery to the Manager on duty in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively within the organization, sharing knowledge and skills to enhance patient care.
  • Reflect the diversity of needs in healthcare communities by utilizing all available resources to facilitate access to the service where there are barriers to communication and understanding.
