Accident and Emergency Administration Assistant

Main area: Accident and Emergency, Grade: Band 3.
- Contract: Permanent, Hours: 37.5 hours per week (day, night, twilight, weekday and weekend shifts).
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our existing team in Warwick Emergency Department.
The role involves providing administrative support to the Emergency Department team, coordinating patient flow and dealing with telephone enquiries.
You will be the first point of contact for patients, directing them to the appropriate area, booking in patients who self-present and answering queries.
Interacting with ambulance crews to book in their patients and uploading their notes to the patient record is also a key responsibility.
The role requires a high level of computer literacy, including using the electronic patient administration system - Lorenzo.
You will work closely with the Nurse in Charge to ensure timely admission and discharge while maintaining Trust values and behaviours.
This role provides a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting patients, medical staff, nursing staff and management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Emergency Department team.
- Coordinate patient flow through the Emergency Department.
- Deal with telephone enquiries and provide general support to clinicians, nurses, and managers.
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English at Grade C or above.
- RSA or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Reception experience.
- Significant experience working with the public.
- Understanding of data confidentiality.
- Understanding of clinical coding or willingness to learn.
- Previous experience working within a healthcare environment.
- Experience using the electronic patient administration system - Lorenzo.
- Excellent IT skills and experience in Microsoft Office suite.
- Accurate and advanced keyboard skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
- Knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.

Salary: £24,071 - £25,674 per annum.
