Archives and Records Manager

This exciting opportunity at the Digital Preservation Coalition involves establishing digital and physical archival infrastructure, ensuring enhanced access to our rich archival collections. A competitive salary of £30,000 per annum is offered for this fixed-term role based in London.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will work closely with the Strategic Projects Director to set up physical and digital archival infrastructure, including commissioning an open-source digital repository to house and organize collections.
The Project Archivist will participate in a BIRI-wide archive and digitization knowledge-sharing project, working as part of the CBRL UK team of four. A hybrid working policy requires working in the office at least two days per week, excluding periods of work travel.
- Key Tasks
- Developing and Implementing Archival Systems
- Develop/adopt metadata schemas for cultural heritage-, environmental-, and social science-related collections, presented bilingually via an open-access digital archive website.
- Collaborate with the Strategic Projects Director and external consultant on archival records management policy and digital/physical records preservation policy prior to beginning digitisation.
- Contribute to setting multi-year digital humanities strategy for increasing discoverability/accessibility of CBRL archival collections.
- Cataloguing and Digitisation
- Produce accurate data according to internal national and international standards.
- Identify sensitive data requiring further review accurately and contribute to development of policies guiding identification and decision-making.
- Rehouse materials in preservation quality materials as necessary.
- Promoting Archival Collections
- Contribute social media content highlighting work on CBRL archival collections.
- Write blog post about collections to be shared on CBRL's website and social media platforms.
