Job Summary:

The Attendance and Pastoral Officer will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive educational environment at Istituto Marangoni. This involves ensuring diligent attendance monitoring, addressing underlying personal, social, and academic challenges that students face. The successful candidate will be responsible for the attendance monitoring cycle, adhering to the Attendance policy requirements, developing operational procedures, and maintaining meticulous attendance records and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and track students' daily attendance, updating records accordingly.
  • Engage with students to discuss attendance issues, advise on best practices, and provide referrals for additional academic and/or pastoral support as required.
  • Identify and report students with poor or prolonged absences to relevant teams, adhering to deadlines and steps indicated on the attendance policy.
  • Collaborate with the Student & Academic Services Manager and relevant teams to create and communicate welfare reporting and tracking systems.
  • Manage and document absence evidence, updating the system with excused/unexcused absences and offering pastoral support.
  • Issue attendance concern and attendance engagement warning letters, maintaining accurate records.
  • Document meetings and interactions with students, focusing on understanding individual circumstances.
  • Provide weekly attendance and welfare reports to Programme Leaders, tracking follow-up actions and ensuring Programme Leaders are informed of actions taken.
  • Generate management reports, including attendance statistics, intervention outcomes, and welfare check-ins.
  • Contribute to improving students' attendance rates and overall student welfare.
  • Assist the School in implementing the Attendance and Engagement Policy and ensuring compliance with UKVI's student attendance requirements.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree education.
  • Certification in Safeguarding young people.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within an educational environment.
  • Previous experience of providing advisory and/or pastoral support.
  • Proficient in IT skills, particularly in working with spreadsheets, data, and student record systems.
  • Ability to utilize data to generate reports and analyze results effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
