About the Role:

This permanent position requires a highly motivated Speech and Language Therapist to provide support for pupils' communication ability and participate in the continuing development of these services under the direction of the Therapy Lead for pupils with ASD, Learning Difficulties and associated Mental Health needs.

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Clinical/Educational Psychologists, and other clinical staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess new pupils' and review existing pupils' communication needs within the school
  • Develop communication targets for allocated pupils (in collaboration with teaching and care staff) and regularly monitor and review these targets
  • Deliver individual and group therapy, where required
  • Attend Multi-disciplinary team meetings and annual reviews
  • Deliver training to the wider professional team to develop their skills in effective communication with Autistic individuals
  • Supervise less experienced Speech and Language Therapists, Therapy assistants and therapy students

Requirements:

A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy is essential. Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of working with people who have severe learning disabilities and/or autism is also necessary.

A confident, caring and proactive attitude, along with the ability to provide high-quality professional advice and detailed reports, are expected from the ideal candidate.

Salary:

$50,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
