London, Greater London, United Kingdom Amazon Full time

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinery Safety Specialist to join our Amazon team in Europe. As a key member of our High-Risk Operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe design and operation of our cutting-edge technology in our vast array of facilities.

About the Role

The successful candidate will conduct equipment inspections against a pre-determined set of criteria to identify areas for improvement and increase the level of safety. In addition, you will provide technical knowledge of EU machinery safety standards, PUWER/UWED applications, and regulations to meet all European country requirements.

You will report directly to the Safety Engineering Compliance Manager (Europe) and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver the required machinery and systems safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Amazon facilities by performing suitable and sufficient risk assessments of all relevant machinery and equipment, for legacy and new launch sites.
  • Support the development of solutions that meet Amazon's high standards for safety, risk reduction, customer satisfaction, efficiency, scalability, simplicity, and operational excellence.
  • Engage and manage the involvement of the inspection team with projects, reacting to changes to facilitate attendance for the inspection.
  • Complete the lifecycle of inspection by effectively reviewing corrective measures and implementing controls in the inspection tool.
  • Provide input to change projects, build outs, and development projects, and act as a technical machinery advisor for the EU WHS team.
  • Keep tracking data up-to-date for the inspection program, plan, and arrange travel efficiently.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with experience in machinery inspection and a deep understanding of EU machinery safety standards and regulations. You should have a demonstrated record of managing machinery safety inspections across large multi-site businesses and be able to effectively engage and influence other functional leaders and their teams.

A qualified NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent, formal training certification in Machinery Safety (such as CMSE), and experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment are highly desirable.
