About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Analyst to join our Commercial team at Barratt Developments plc. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering best quality homes at the best possible cost.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare cost plans for land purchase exercises and reappraisal of development opportunities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of estimating work required to deliver business unit output.
  • Provide information for land purchase exercises and identify specific scheme abnormals.
  • Liaise with departments to achieve a viable final cost position.
  • Prepare group viabilities for all acquisitions.
  • Calculate prime costs on developments within the business and report any movements in costs.
  • Provide detailed pre-start appraisals following grant of planning consent.
  • Assist in maintaining library costs and update on a regular basis.
  • Be aware of codes of practice that impact on estimating.
  • Attend pre-start, specification, and other relevant meetings as required.
  • Input and maintain computer-based estimating databases or systems.
  • Monitor, reconcile, and recharge costs related to shared cost items.
  • Be aware of new materials and methods of construction that would assist the business in maintaining or increasing its targets.
  • Complete other duties as required by the Senior Estimator/Commercial Manager.
Requirements
  • Industry-related business qualification.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Full understanding of current market conditions and rates.
  • Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Methodical, conscientious, and organized.
  • Strong IT skills and working knowledge of computer systems within the commercial environment.
  • Articulate, clear, and credible.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Wide experience in the discipline within the house building industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC, and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Team player and supportive of colleagues.
  • Professional and pleasant manner in dealing with internal and external customers.
