Job Summary

The Primary Care Careers team has an exciting opportunity for a medical centre receptionist to work within our front of house team. We have two part-time vacancies available, with the hours below:

Role 1:

  • Monday 13:00-17:30
  • Tuesday 08:00-13:00
  • Wednesday 13:00-18:30
  • Thursday 08:30-13:00
  • Friday 13:30-18:30

Role 2:

  • Tuesday 14:00-18:30
  • Thursday 13:00-17:30
  • Friday 08:00-13:00

As a medical centre receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing a safe and high-quality service. Your main duties will include greeting and directing patients, making appointments, and dealing with requests for information.

Main Duties

  • Greeting and directing all patients.
  • Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required.
  • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
  • Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints.
  • Advising patients of practice procedures.
  • Registering new patients.
  • Supporting our 'on duty team'.
  • Answering the telephone, promptly.

About Us

The Primary Care Careers team is a friendly and supportive practice with a strong commitment to patient care. We are a training practice and play an active role in our local PCN. We are looking for a medical centre receptionist who is able to work as part of a team and provide excellent patient care.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner.
  • Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times.
  • Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
  • Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to 'think on your feet'.
  • Strong IT and administration skills.
  • Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

Desirable

  • Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.
